Tonight we are joined by Hisham Ahmed on a "sort of Cook's tour" of America's disaster and the continuing crisis in the Middle East. They cover not only Jimmy Carter's new book, Peace Not Apartheid, but relates the political complexities of the crisis around Palestine to the collapse of the Bush regime's Iraq adventure and the crisis of imperial dominion from the eastern Mediterranean virtually to the Indian subcontinent, while touching on events in Lebanon, Syria and Iran as well.

1. Hisham Ahmed, formerly Associate Professor of Political Science at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank, is now a professor of Politics at St. Mary's College in California. He is the author of a 1994 book on Hamas, “From Religious Salvation to Political and Social Transformation.”
